About Kaitoi

Our in-house production studio is led by Academy Award-winning cinematographer and director Guillermo Navarro, whose work spans Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy, Pacific Rim, Night at the Museum, and long collaborations with filmmakers including Guillermo del Toro and Robert Rodriguez. The studio uses Kaitoi to make real work: short films, music videos, visual experiments, brand pieces, marketing assets.

Kaitoi itself is an AI-native orchestration platform for creative professionals. It is built around a conversational moodboard that connects directly to a node graph, a workflow view, a storyboard and a timeline. All interconnected, all live. A project moves from first idea to rough cut inside the platform, then exports cleanly into professional editors for finishing. The assistant is agentic across the whole surface: it collaborates on the work, executes it, guides you through it, and can extend the software itself when you describe what you need.

The studio is both end in itself and the most honest possible product testing: if the platform cannot make beautiful things, we find out first.

The role

You are a Creative Technologist who lives at the intersection of craft and tooling. You take a brief from idea to delivered piece, and you do it by going deep on Kaitoi itself, becoming one of the people who knows the platform better than almost anyone. You will be one of the first creative voices in the studio, with real ownership over the work we make and how we make it.

Beyond the finished pieces, much of what you make is meant to be shown. The work doubles as demo material and teaching material: showing creators what Kaitoi can do, and showing them how to do it. You will turn real production workflows into clear, repeatable, watchable examples for marketing and education.

We are open on discipline. Some Creative Technologists on the team may lean more toward generative pipelines, others toward compositing, motion, look development, or filmmaking and edit. We care more about depth, originality, and taste than fitting a fixed title.

You might come from VFX, CG, motion, live-action filmmaking, generative AI, or some mix that does not fit a category. What matters is craft, curiosity, fluency with new tools, and the ability to ship.

You will be a power user of the platform, and a vocal one. The friction you hit in your day-to-day directly shapes our product roadmap.

What you will do

  • Lead or contribute to studio projects from concept through final delivery
  • Develop deep, hands-on mastery of Kaitoi and build production pipelines inside it: shot setup, look development, generative passes, compositing, color, finishing
  • Produce a body of work that is both beautiful and demoable: pieces, breakdowns, and walkthroughs that show what the platform can do and how it is done
  • Partner with marketing and education to turn real workflows into demos, tutorials, and reference content
  • Collaborate with the product team. Surface what is missing, broken, or slow, and help us fix the right things
  • Help define the studio's creative voice and quality bar as we grow

What you bring

  • A strong portfolio. We care more about what you have made than where you made it
  • Deep craft in at least one creative discipline: generative AI, VFX compositing, CG, motion, directing, editorial, color, or similar
  • Working fluency with modern creative tooling: some combination of Nuke / After Effects / Houdini / Blender / DaVinci / Premiere / Unreal, plus generative tools (ComfyUI, Stable Diffusion, FLUX, video models, etc.)
  • A genuine appetite for learning new tools fast and going deep, and the patience to shape new pipelines instead of relying on settled ones
  • The ability to explain how you made something clearly enough that someone else can follow it
  • The ability to take a project from brief to delivery without heavy supervision

Nice to have

  • Experience publishing your own work and building an audience around it
  • A track record of teaching, writing tutorials, or making breakdowns of your process
  • Strong color and finishing chops (log workflows, ACES/OCIO, LUT pipelines)
  • Technical-artist tendencies: comfort with Python, scripting, or building your own tools
  • Filmmaking instincts (story, performance, edit, sound), not just frames

How we work

  • Fully remote, global. Async-first written communication.
  • Small team. The work you make ships as part of Kaitoi's studio and contributes directly to the product.
  • We protect creative time and keep meetings rare.
